My grandma taught piano to my sister and many other people. When ever my sister had a piano lesson it would be with grandma, at my house. I would be in the next room hearing her play. Now I had a very good sense of ear and memory so when ever I sat down on the piano, I would play what I heard and remembered. I found all of the notes by listening to the sound of each and every note and some of them sounded just like the note I had in my mind just they were an octave higher. Then what I would do was compare the right note to the note I was playing. Soon I was an expert at my note finding game.
One day when grandma was over (Not for lessons, but for another reason I don't remember.) at my house she asked if I liked playing the piano. I answered, "Yes I do like playing the piano." "Would you like it that much for this?" She asked holding up a binder that said "Annie's piano book" That's what was on my sister's binder that held her piano books! My grandma was asking me if I wanted to start piano lessons! "Yes, I love it enough!" Inside I was jumping with joy. I couldn't wait to start. I asked her when we could start. She said "We can start right now."
We started right away and the lessons went by fast. Now I am taught by a friend's mom. My grandma retired. One of the hardest songs I can play is called The Pink Panther. I am working on Claire de Lune and the Wild Horsemen. I'm a very strong piano player and I still can play by ear.
I am getting stronger and stronger each year I play and I hope to get better.
